The Luxembourg Pavilion will have a second life after Expo 2020 Dubai

During his visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Minister of Economy, Franz Fayot, visited the site of the Luxembourg pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, which will take place from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022.

During the visit, Franz Fayot and Commissioner General Maggy Nagel met with His Excellency Reem Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Managing Director of Dubai Expo 2020.

During this meeting, Franz Fayot accepted the proposal of the Dubai authorities to take over the Luxembourg pavilion and to bring it to a new use at the end of the Expo2020.

Minister Franz Fayot said: “The organiser’s proposal to take over the Luxembourg pavilion at the end of Expo 2020 gives us the opportunity to extend the duration of its existence at no cost to Luxembourg.

The emblematic architecture of the building, symbol of the openness and dynamism of our country, will thus be preserved for a extended period. I am delighted that, for Luxembourg, Expo2020 will continue well beyond the six months planned”.

Commissioner General Maggy Nagel added: “The work of Metaform Architects and the team on this project will thus be preserved. This magnificent building will fit perfectly into the innovative spirit of the new town-planning complex that will develop in the years to come around the current site of the Universal Exhibition».
