One Month to Go: Luxembourg Pavilion on Track for Completion
The construction of the Luxembourg Pavilion has been completed, with the interior fit-out and operational setup now in their final phase. The installation of the “Keelebunn” has already been successfully concluded and tested. The Luxembourg Pavilion is on schedule for the official test phase at the beginning of April with final touches being made until the opening on April 13.
The official opening ceremony on April 12 will take place in the presence of Their Imperial Highnesses Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, during which HIH Emperor Naruhito will declare the Expo open. HIH Prince Akishino, who serves as honorary president of the event, and HIH Princess Kiko will also join the ceremony. From the Luxembourg side,
Xavier Bettel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade; André Hansen, Commissioner General of the Luxembourg Pavilion, and Luxembourg Ambassador to Japan, Michel Leesch, will also take part in the official opening ceremony.

Meanwhile, the iconic large ring structure encircling the Expo site on the man-made island of Yumeshima has already set a record. The Japan Association for the 2025 World Expositions had recently announced that the “Grand Ring”, the symbol of “Expo 2025 Osaka”, has been recognised by Guinness World Records as the largest wooden architectural structure in the world. The total circumference of it is approximately 2,025 m with a building area of 61,035.55 m2.
Its construction began on 30 June 2023 at the Expo site and it was completed in August 2024. As a symbol of Expo 2025 Osaka, the “Grand Ring” represents the venue’s design philosophy of “Unity in Diversity” and will welcome many visitors from home and abroad during the Expo period.
For the official opening on April 13, the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition has already announced a ribbon-cutting ceremony welcoming the guests of honour after the opening declaration by TOKURA Masakazu, Chairperson of the Association. The ceremony will be accompanied by fanfare and other musical performances from the Self-Defence Forces Music Corps. Further details are still to be announced.
