Augmented Reality Brings Luxembourg’s Iconic Landmarks to Life at the Luxembourg Pavilion and in the Luxembourg Pavilion App
Installed in the queuing area of the Pavilion, these interactive AR stations use image trackers and QR codes to trigger vivid 3D reconstructions of iconic Luxembourg landmarks. Visitors can explore ultra-realistic models of historical and cultural treasures—brought to life through Artec 3D’s state-of-the-art scanners and AI photogrammetry solutions.
These AR stations allow visitors to engage with Luxembourg’s rich narrative in a hands-on, visually captivating way—turning the wait time into a window into the country’s soul.
Digitized landmarks include:
- Gëlle Fra (Golden Lady): A national symbol of freedom and remembrance.
- Huelen Zant (Hollow Tooth): A military remnant reflecting Luxembourg City’s strategic past.
- Castle of Vianden: A medieval fortress from the Éislek region.
- Moselle Vineyards: A scenic window into Luxembourg’s wine-producing heritage.
- Grand Ducal Palace: The official residence of H.R.H. the Grand Duke of Luxembourg.

Melusina Legend: The statue of this mythical mermaid, created by Luxembourgish artist Serge Ecker, whose tale is entwined with the founding of Luxembourg in 963 by Count Siegfried.
To digitize these heritage sites, Artec 3D’s team utilized the full spectrum of its innovative technologies including AI Photogrammetry to reconstruct impressive digital twins from drone imagery. This comprehensive approach delivered a set of high-fidelity digital representations that continue to immerse visitors at the Luxembourg Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, as well as users of the Luxembourg App where the 3D models of these iconic landmarks are also integrated.
“It’s an honour for us to bring heritage exploration and innovation together for audiences at and beyond the World Expo 2025 with our full range of 3D scanning and photogrammetry solutions,” said Art Yukhin, President and CEO of Artec 3D. “Each of these objects, from the Grand Ducal Palace to the Golden Lady statue, presents unique challenges and stories. By capturing them in high fidelity, we are not only preserving Luxembourg’s rich past but also offering a new, interactive way for the world to engage with it.”
This digitization initiative underscores not only the diversity of Luxembourg’s cultural heritage but also the remarkable flexibility and precision of Artec 3D scanning and AI photogrammetry in capturing both the monumental and the minute. The resulting 3D models are integrated into the pavilion’s AR experience offering a global audience the chance to explore and appreciate Luxembourg’s heritage through exciting and immersive visualization.
