Final celebrations and award presentation at the Luxembourg Pavilion
Expo 2025 Osaka will officially close its doors on 13 October 2025
A few days before the official closing, an appreciation ceremony was held at the Luxembourg Pavilion in honour of the Japanese partners and the Luxembourg Pavilion teams, in the presence of several foreign dignitaries, including H.E. Mr. Koji Haneda, Commissioner General of the Expo. The event provided an opportunity for Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Xavier Bettel, to express his gratitude to all those who contributed to the realization of the Luxembourg Pavilion.
From a culinary perspective, the ceremony was hosted by Luxembourgish chef Louis Linster, holder of two Michelin stars, and it also featured the presentation of the award for the best dessert of the Luxembourg Pavilion by the Deputy Prime Minister.
Award for the Dessert That Made Visitors’ Hearts Beat Faster

In collaboration with the Luxembourgish „Chambre des Métiers“ and the EHTL (École d’Hôtellerie et de Tourisme du Luxembourg), a competition was launched last year to create a special dessert for the Luxembourg Pavilion. The challenge was clear: to imagine a sweet fusion between Luxembourg and Japan, in line with the Pavilion’s theme “Doki Doki – The Luxembourg Heartbeat,” while respecting the seasons, nature, and sustainability principles, prioritizing local ingredients and minimizing transport. A jury that included pastry chefs from Osaka selected the six best creations.
Throughout the Expo, visitors to the Pavilion were invited to vote for their favorite among these six desserts in competition. Stéphane Muller (Pâtisserie Cayotte) won first place with his creation “Cœur de joie / Heart of Joy”: “I would like to congratulate the five other pastry chefs and thank my employer, Mrs. Le Moigne, for registering me for the competition. It was a wonderful adventure,” he said.
